  4. medals (174) than athletes from any other 
  5. country. (Romania, with 53, was second.) 
  6. But the AmericansΓÇÖ success was due in 
  7. large part to the boycott of those games by
  8. the Soviet Union.

  11. held in Moscow, in the Soviet Union. In 
  12. protest of the Soviet invasion of the country 
  13. of Afghanistan, the United States and a few 
  14. other countries, including West Germany
